your first step.
Practical information about starting care, appointments, and what to expect.

How do I start therapy?
Begin with a scheduling inquiry. Clinical work starts with a formal intake and secure paperwork, where we discuss your history, goals, consent, payment, and the right level of care.
Can I schedule a consultation?
You can request a conversation about fit and practical next steps. My original practice information describes clinical care beginning with a comprehensive intake rather than a brief informal clinical consultation. Confirm available consultation options and any fee before scheduling.
What happens in the first session?
The initial intake is typically a collaborative 50–60 minute clinical evaluation. We review your secure paperwork, discuss concerns and goals, and begin a personalized plan. If another provider or level of care is a better fit, we discuss referral options.
How long are sessions?
Initial clinical intakes are typically 50–60 minutes and cost $220. Standard therapy sessions are 55 minutes and cost $220. Psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy (PAP) sessions are 90 minutes and cost $300.
What is the cancellation policy?
Ask for the written cancellation policy before your first appointment, including the notice period and any late-cancellation or missed-appointment fee. The exact policy is confirmed in the practice’s intake documents.
Can I use insurance?
Accepted panels differ by state and exact plan. Review Rates & Insurance and verify current network participation and benefits before beginning.
Where are sessions available?
Amy is licensed in California, Oregon, and Washington. Telehealth availability, your physical location during sessions, and clinical fit are confirmed during scheduling.
Do you offer couples sessions?
Relationship-focused care is part of the practice’s approach. Ask about the availability and suitability of joint couples appointments; individual work on relationship concerns is also an option.
Do I need a diagnosis before reaching out?
You can ask about therapy without having all the answers or a prior diagnosis. Neurodivergent self-identification is welcome. Insurance billing may require an assessment and diagnosis when applicable.
How do I access paperwork or my portal?
Use the practice-specific portal invitation sent by your therapist for client paperwork and appointments. The SimplePractice sign-in link on this website is the general account sign-in supplied by the practice, not a verified client-specific scheduling page.
What if I need urgent support?
This website and appointment inquiries are not emergency services. In the U.S., call or text 988 for crisis support. For immediate danger, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department.
Can I use a journaling tool alongside therapy?
Personal Reflection Journal offers check-ins, guided prompts, and personal journaling for teens and adults. If appropriate and desired by you, I can share it during therapy. Use is optional, and entries are not automatically sent to your therapist. Learn about the tool on the Reflection Tool page.
Can I have therapy without using a camera?
Audio-only individual therapy is available when clinically appropriate. It may help if video feels tiring, distracting, or uncomfortable. We discuss your communication and sensory needs, privacy, location, and appointment arrangements before starting. Read about audio-only therapy.
